When you look at a a satellite image using Google Earth or similar applications or sites then you be familiar with how magnificent they look. I always remember seeing my own home as viewed by a satellite in space. It was spectacular. The screen started out looking at our amazing planet, next i typed in my zip or post code and watch the earth zoom into your country. Then it zoomed in further and closer until we could view the roof of my home. I could take a look at the neighbours swimming pool in the backyard, woods, landmarks, nature reserves and more. It was amazing stuff.
Something amazing about watching satellite images is that you get to see real photographs from anywhere on earth, The Great Pyramid, Mount St Helens, craters formed before man roamed the world, you name it. You can then save and share that wonderful satellite image with friends and family how about adding more personal information such as your first house, or the town you first lived in.
Another thing you can do once you have found your sight is that you can move and rotate the satellite view giving a birds eye perspective on the terrain. Some people have asked me if the images are in real time and if you run around outside your house will you see yourself? The answer is no, we would need a lot of satellites out in orbit if this could happen.
The only downside that can happen, is your pc may not be powerful enough to run the software and show the 3D images. But if your computer can run it you have many options to look at
Manmade Landmarks
Its easy to waste unlimited time on Google Earth zooming in and out of all the worlds big man made objects. Doing this has turned into a major popular time-killers for pc users these days. The rainbow-colored hot springs of Yellowstone National Park, the Grand Canyon, and the snow caps of California's Sierra Nevada are all astounding images, especially when shot from low flying survey planes, which offer better images and angled scenes.

Of course the most popular feature of online digital mapping technology today is the ability to zoom in to get a streetview of most major cities in the world.
