Here we are to give you a brief comparison between the satellite television services offered by two companies namely Dish Network vs. Direct TV. Both the products offer a reasonable price for their channel packages with Dish Network offering relatively lower price for their various packages. For instance, their basic package is for $24.99 as compared to CHOICE package at $29.99. Both the companies offer Free HD for life although for the first year DIRECTV offers more annual discount than Dish Network and also offers around 130 HD (High Definition) channels as compared to just 120 from Dish Network. As far as the race of Dish Network vs, DIRECTV in providing Free HD is concerned, DIRECTV obviously seems to hog the trophy. Dish Network provides a free DVR upgrade whereas DIRECTV offers free DVR and a HD receiver upgrade, but Dish Network provides a home protection plan which the users of DIRECTV can not avail. With over 150 HD channels and HD 3D in no extra cost being the pioneer in 3D services, DIRECTV is a quite a smart choice. Both the products offer DVR (Digital video recording) technology with Dish Networks being the pioneer in introducing that technology in their services. Both products offer multi-room viewing although with Dish Networks both the TV cannot have HD run on them simultaneously where on the other hand you have to get an extra HD receiver for each TV satellite Television you have. As far as the customer satisfaction is concerned Dish Networks is No.1 in customer satisfaction as per the ACSI (American Customer Satisfaction Index). It scored 71 as compared to 68 of DIRECTV. On account of multiple receivers DIRECTV is much cheaper that Dish network. Cost of each additional tuner for Direct Network is around $7 whereas it’s just $5/month for each additional receiver for DIRECTV. Although the first receiver is free in both the cases.

Dish Network also provides a remote access facility where you can connect you DVR to Internet and enjoy various titles on your portable devices. Both the products also offer local channel coverage with Dish Networks providing 100% coverage nationwide as compared to 94% coverage of DIRECTV although the local are free with the package whereas it will cost around $5 to $6 a month for the same in Dish Networks. DIRECTV is much preferred due to the number of Premium channels they provide. DIRECTV offers six premium channels which two extra as compared to Dish Networks providing just four of them. Similar is the case with sports channels where DIRECTV wins the Dish Network vs. DIRECTV race. Both the services are provided in multiple languages with Dish Networks providing far more number of languages than Direct TV. Pay per view is also a feature with price depending on the content being delivered. Both companies are big giants of the satellite television services with Dish Networks hogging 14 million customers and DIRECTV hogging around 18 million. With all the information given the choice between the two is quite subjective often pertaining to what an individual is actually looking for. All the above mentioned statements justify Dish Network vs. DIRECTV.
